Originally built in 1905 by the Alexander Graham Bell family, the Inn was known as the Children's Salt Air Home. Children in need were brought from Washington, D.C. to spend their summers at the beach for a breath of fresh air and to rejuvenate their spirits. You will find the same restorative and invigorating environment during your stay here at the Monroe Bay Inn.
The Inn is conveniently situated one block from Monroe Bay and three blocks from the Potomac River. Walk to the public beach, fish off the Municipal Pier, and go boating. Visit art galleries, distinctive shops, and dine at great restaurants. Enjoy live music on the beach and at nearby Tiki Bars. Visit many nearby historical sites and local wineries.
Enjoy comfortable rooms with private baths, a full delicious breakfast, and a relaxing atmosphere. Cable TV and WiFi are available. Join us for a weekend getaway at a special rate or even a week with us. We are here to make your stay a pleasant one. Put your feet up and relax on the front porch. You will love the glider!
